PUBLIC NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS OF THE
MONTREAL MUNICIPAL WATER UTILITY
The Montreal Municipal Water Utility has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to increase water rates. The increase is necessary due to the need to cover past borrowings and pay for engineering and deferred maintenance expenses as loans and/or grant applications are being developed. The rate of return/allowance increased from $45,524 since the last rate case in 2013 to $70,000. This allowance is to pay debt. Utility revenues have also decreased since the last rate case from $206,224 to $146,239.
The total increase in water revenues requested is $79,950 which will result in an estimated overall rate increase of 55.05 percent over the water utility’s present revenues. If the request is granted, the water bill for an average residential customer with a ?-inch or ¾-inch meter who uses 7,000 gallons of water per quarter will increase from $38.35 to $64.40, or 67.93%.
A telephonic public hearing on the application has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the City of Montreal City Hall, 54 Wisconsin Avenue, Montreal, Wisconsin. Scheduling questions regarding this hearing may be directed to the PSCW
