Regular City Council Meeting Held
June 13, 2017
In attendance: Paul Jahnson, Jesse Olson, Marie and Rick Swartz, Bill Thomas, Steve and Kay Fiene, Ric Luna, Dale Wicklund
Meeting called to order at 5:30 P.M. by Mayor Todd Haeger.
Roll Call: Berglund-Present, Maslanka-Present, Leoni-Present, Levra- Present.
It was attested by the Clerk that the Agenda had been posted at the City Hall, Montreal and Gile Post Office, the two local radio stations, City of Montreal Website, Iron County Miner.
Motion by Maslanka, supported by Leoni to approve the Agenda as written. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Motion by Leoni, supported by Levra to approve the Minutes for the Regular Monthly Meeting of May 9, 2017. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Motion by Levra supported by Maslanka to approve the Financial Statements for the Month of May along with a listing of Checks No. 41338 through 41383. Motion Carried. All Ayes.

Cash on Hand June 1, 2017 103,197.61
Discussion was held on the two Audit proposals presented to the City. WIPFELI CPA’s and Consultants came in with an amount of $9,650.00 while Makela, Pollack and Ahonen came in with a price of $15,000.00. Motion by Levra, supported by Maslanka to retain WIPFELLI for the 2016 Audit. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Discussion was held regarding Park Equipment and flags that need to be replaced. The park equipment is primarily at Jim Youngs Park where the swings are in bad shape. The flags on the highway are tattered and need to be replaced. Motion by Leoni, supported by Berglund to replace the swings and the flags. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Motion by Maslanka, supported by Leoni adopt the CMAR resolution #06132017. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Liquor License applications were presented by the Clerk. Motion by Leoni, supported by Berglund to approve the License for Burgers Bar and conditionally approve the Licenses for Annies, Full Throttle and St. Nicks. Upon payment in full on any delinquent taxes and water/sewer bills, the license will then be approved. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Discussion was held regarding the refinancing of a loan with Associated Bank in the amount of $228,382.83. Motion by Maslanka, supported by Leoni to go forward with the refinancing of said loan. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
FOREMAN REPORT-Jesse Olson gave an overview of work that is being done for the month including cleanup, trees being taken care of, the Gile Park being opened, blacktop and culvert work. The three summer help employees started on Monday and are doing a good job. The fountain at the park has been broken by someone.
Request for donation from Hurley Fireworks. Motion by Maslanka, supported by Leoni to donate $100.00 to the Hurley Fireworks. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Paul Jahnson-is there monies budgeted for road work?
Ric Luna-request for the road from Kokkogan to Nimikon by blocked off from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM on July 22. (This item will be put on the July agenda.
Dale Wicklund-City needs to have a Citywide cleanup. The Council needs to be leaders and put this together (this item will be on July agenda)
Leoni-Long grass on Nimikon/Park. There is nobody living there.
Maslanka-has there been any discussion of sale of outlots?
Spoke with Public Works department and they would like to purchase a Pole Saw for tree cutting. Berglund indicated that the County has one that can be used to see how the crew like it.
Roll Call Vote to go into Closed Session Pursuant to Section 19.85 (1 ) (c ) to consider employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee which the Governmental body has jurisdiction or exercise responsibility and 19.85 (1) (G) conferring with Legal Counsel for the Governmental Body who is rendering Oral or Written advice concerning strategy to be adopted by the body with respect to litigation in which it is or is likely to become involved Levra-yes, Berglund-yes, Leoni-yes, Maslanka-yes.
Roll call vote to go back into open session and take action if necessary on issues discussed in Closed Session. Levra-yes, Berglund-yes, Leoni-yes, Maslanka-yes.
Motion by Leoni, supported by Berglund to give a pay increase of $1.00 per hour to Jesse Olson and Mark Haeger for receiving their water certification. Motion Carried, All Ayes.
Motion by Maslanka, supported by Leoni for Mayor Hager to follow through the legal process concerning a former employee, for Mayor to contact Insurance company to follow up on Well 4,for Mayor to contact Becher Hoppe and Lane Northwest to have them give quote on fixing pump issues, for Mayor to contact Iron County regarding Gile Park. Motion Carried. All Ayes
