Regular City Council Meeting Held
September 10, 2019
In attendance: Steve Schurtter, Mark Haeger, Paul Jahanson, Steve Fiene, Jerry Cramer, Dale Wicklund, Marie Swartz, Kim Strom, Robert Sullivan.
Meeting called to order at 5:30 P.M. by Mayor Erik Guenard.
Roll Call: Berglund-Present, Levra- Present, Thomas-Present, Swartz-Present.
It was attested by the Clerk that the Agenda had been posted at the City Hall, Montreal and Gile Post Office, the two local radio stations, City Website and the Iron County Miner.
Mayor Guenard added to the Agenda before it was approved item 7.5, Proposal from Hydrocorp for services for Inspections.
Motion by Berglund, supported by Thomas to approve the Agenda as written. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Motion by Swartz, supported by Thomas to approve the Minutes for the Regular Monthly Meeting of August 13, 2019. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Motion by Thomas, supported by Berglund to approve the August Financial Statement and bills written for September. Motion Carried. All Ayes

Motion by Swartz, supported by Thomas to hire Hydrocorp to do Cross Connection work in the City of Montreal for 2019 in the amount of $4,824.00. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Discussion was had regarding work that needs to be taken care of in the Water Dept. A loan will have to be taken out for repairs that will need to be done to include Rehab on Well 5, Clean/Pump work on Well 3. The loan amount will have to be $123,000.00-$150,000.00. The Clerk has gotten loan rates and presently the best rate is with the State Trust Fund at a rate of 3.75% for 10 years. Motion by Thomas, supported by Swartz to direct the Clerk to go forward with obtaining loan funding. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
Motion by Levra, supported by Berglund to table Fall Cleanup dates until the October Meeting. Motion Carried. All Ayes.
FOREMAN REPORT-The foreman gave a report on work which has been done in the last month. This included replacing a culvert on Hamilton, attending continuing education classes, repairing sewer mains, removing “No Parking” signs on Nimikon, tree removal, repairing 2 water breaks, burning the brush dump, helping the Town of Iron Belt with a water break, work on Quebec, working with the City of Hurley to get a system in place so that Montreal can sell water to Hurley, testing up to date. There were several questions from the Council in regards to patching roads and the type of Culvert to be installed on Washington Ave.
Robert Sullivan-status of the fire hydrant in front of his home on Minnesota Ave.
Paul Jahnsen-can hydrants on Saxon Road be swapped out for the broken ones within the City?

Has spoken with the City of Hurley regarding selling water to them.
The City has been given a mower to use for the season. It was received late in the season but was utilized and next spring the City will get a larger one to use.
Told the Council of a Grant opportunity from the State of Wisconsin for road work which will be pursued.
