CITY OF MONTREAL MONTHLY MEETING
May 11, 2021

Montreal City Council Meeting 

May 11, 2021 

 

 

 

Meeting called to order at 5:30 PM by Mayor Erik Guenard. 

Roll Call: Saari-present, Cummings-present, Traczyk-present, Thomas-present, 

It was verified by the Clerk that the Agenda had been properly posted 

Motion by Thomas, supported by Tracyzk to approve the Agenda as written. Motion Carried. All Ayes.  

Motion by Saari, supported by Thomas to approve the Minutes for the Regular Monthly Meeting of April 20, 2021.   Motion Carried.  All Ayes. 

Motion by Thomas supported by Tracyzk to approve the Financial Statement April and Checks Written for May 2021.  Motion Carried.  All Ayes 

Discussion and action on donation to Hurley area youth softball & baseball- A motion by Saari for a $50 donation was withdrawn.  Motion by Thomas, supported by Traczyk a to donate $100 to the league. Motion Carried.   Tracyzk –Yes, Thomas –Yes, Cummings –Yes, Saari-No.  

Discussion and explanation of all options on lawn mower bids- A motion by Traczyk, supported by Thomas to purchase two mowers a 54-inch deck and a 50-inch deck from Giovanoni .  Motion carried.  All Ayes.  

Discussion on infrastructure- None

Jeff Seamandel  explained the Transportation Utility fee . All aspects of the CDBG and other grants were also discussed and explained.    The City needs to move forward . Thank you for all the helpful information. 

 

Samardich agreed to switch lots with the City.  The two lots are identical. The City will contact the attorney for information on fees and next steps in the process.  Motion by Thomas, supported by Saari to procced pending attorney approval. 

 

Spring cleanup will continue through the end of May.  And advertisement with specifications will be placed in the Iron County Miner.  A motion by Saari, supported by Cummings to approve cleanup ending May 31, 2021.  

 

FOREMAN REPORT- Steady with spring cleanup.  The sweeper needs to be repaired.  Cold Patch was delivered. There was an issue with the Vac truck due to a malfunction in the oil filter.  A representative from the filter company will be here to discuss the problem and next steps in resolving this issue.  Hurley will be sweeping the streets.  Work on the final project of FEMA on Washington St will begin soon.  Meters are still being repaired/replaced.    Ross Peterson Construction will be replacing the approved hydrants.   

 

CORRESPONDENCE- None 

OLD BUSINESS- None 

PUBLIC COMMENT- Comments and discussions took place in regard to road repair.  

COUNCILMEMBER COMMENT- Saari discussed the finance committee meeting.  He recommends one different committee meeting scheduled every month in between the general City meeting.  Traczyk would like to have special meetings for zoning/variance approval.   

MAYOR COMMENT-The streets are a concerning issue.  A major revenue source is the Gile Flowage . We need to maintain the roads.  The City is looking at all opportunities to find new revenue sources.  He would like a city-wide public meeting, so everyone understands what we want to accomplish.   Having a public meeting will open discussion about all issues that need to be resolved and is a great opportunity to move forward.  The City is making progress with water infrastructure.  Wood chips were delivered to the two parks.    The Mayor appreciates all that is accomplished. Thank you.      

Motion by Thomas supported by Saari to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. All Ayes.  Meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
